Word Balloons: ‘Star Wars’ among highlights of comics’ restart –

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #14: Boom! Studios’ updated version of the “Buffy the Slayer” universe continues in this issue, with a focus on the Slayer known as Kendra.

Year Zero #1: The relatively new publisher AWA Studios gets in on the zombie craze with “Year Zero.” Writer Ben Percy (“Wolverine”) and artist Ramon Rosanas (“Star Wars: Age of Resistance”) take a global look at the zombie apocalypse. In this story, A Japanese hitman, a Mexican street urchin, an Afghan military aide, a Polar research scientist and a Midwestern American survivalist must draw upon their skills and instincts to navigate a world of shambling dead, according to the publisher.

• New releases are expected to continue weekly as before the interregnum; Marvel Comics has “Amazing Spider-Man” #43, “Venom” #25 and the first issue of a new “Star Wars: Doctor Aphra” series among its slated releases for May 27.
